Being with
  • Each gathering starts at 7.30pm and finishes at 9pm. We will do our best to honour everyone’s time by starting and finishing promptly.

  • Being With is all about having time and space to get to know one another, most frequently through listening and hearing one another to life. This means that very small groups still work well, and at the other end, we’ll aim to have a group that is no larger than 12.

  • Being With is an opportunity to wonder about your faith, and your experience of faith, in our context, which is a Christian one. Over the ten sessions, we’ll cover topics including meaning, essence, Jesus, suffering, prayer and Church.

  • No at all. And you don’t have to be one by the end either.

  • Each week, Being With opens with an opportunity to share a little bit about ourselves, in a way that feels comfortable to you. It might be about how you are feeling, or a run down on some of the errands that you have run in the last week. That’s the only time when space is made for everyone to answer, and listening only is welcome for the rest of the session each week, if that is what might work best for you.

  • Each week will follow the same pattern, which will hopefully become familiar. There will be a welcome, we’ll wonder together, hear a story and then reflect.

  • Being With doesn’t cost you any money - the course is free. It will cost you other things: time and energy, as we recognise ten weeks of evenings is a real commitment. We believe it’s an investment well worth making.

  • Because Being With is an investment, and especially in relationship, we know that building trust, safety and freedom is a really important part of the process. With that in mind, it feels important that each participant is able to commit to at least seven of the ten sessions. You can miss the first one, and even the second too, but from week four onwards, the group will be closed for the rest of the course.

  • We aim to run the course twice a year, in January and May.
