All of the young people starting the Spear Programme face challenges in finding work and most of them lack confidence and self belief. They join the Spear Programme which initially involves six weeks of group and 1-2-1 coaching that equips them with the skills to find work.
Towards the end of the Programme there is a Spear Celebration where friends, family and guests come together to celebrate the young people's achievements. Each young person is invited to give a short talk covering what brought them to the Spear Programme, what they have learned and their plans for the future. It is always an emotional evening hearing these young people's stories and, for most of them, six weeks earlier they would never have dreamed they would stand up and deliver a talk to a large group of people.
After the talk, our coaches affirm the trainees giving them personalised feedback and encouragement. There is an opportunity to talk informally to the trainees and congratulate them over a glass of Prosecco and some canapes. It is always a wonderful evening. We really hope you can join us.
