24 Hours of Prayer w/ Good Friday Meditations

  • St Mary Magdalene Church N8 8LT (map)

From 3pm on Thursday 17th April to Friday 18th April at 3pm, St Mary Magdalene will be open for 24 hours of prayer.  There will be different activities, stations and spaces on the theme of “From Slavery to Freedom”, in line with what Jesus would have been commemorating with Passover before his arrest.

On Thursday 17th April, join anytime from 3pm, in the main space at St Mary Magdalene for open and free space to come in and pray whenever you would like to.

At 6pm on Thursday 17th April, our pioneers of prayer, Kemi, Sophie and Anna, will be leading us in prayer as we gather to reflect on passover, Maundy Thursday, and where Jesus would have found himself the night of his arrest.

The evening will look a little like this;

6:00pm - 6:30pm Receiving the meal (short agape meal)

6:30pm - 7:30pm Dynamic Prayer: and mix of prayer and worship, we will break into small groups and intercede for our world, our nation, our city and our borough.

7:30pm – 8:30pm Prayer walking: we will walk around the church and the

land around it to prayer for redemption, healing and blessing.

8:30pm – 9:30pm Pray the Word: we select a book from the bible and use it

to pray for our church.

Come and join in for a part, or the whole, we’d love to see you there.

St Mary Magdalene will remain available as a space for prayer past 9.30pm on Thursday 17th April, and you are welcome to come in and pray through the night if you would like to do that.  If you would like to pray between 11pm and 7am, please drop us an email, so we know who to expect and at what hours of the night!!

On Friday 18th April, the church will be open for personal prayer and reflection from 8am until 3pm.

At midday, Good Friday Meditations will begin, where on the hour and half hour, short reflections will be offered alongside scripture and music, to facilitate space and reflection in the window of time that the gospels tell us Jesus endured the cross and died.  Good Friday Meditations are a drop in gentle space, where you are welcome to pop in for ten minutes, one half hour cycle, or stay for the full three hours, it is entirely up to you..
